Contemporary ruins - Research
This research moves through a constant back-and-forth between reading the site and transforming it, where analysis and design happen at the same time. The SIAMU fire station in Brussels’ North Quarter is difficult to grasp directly: a concrete structure still in use, an artificial ground, layers of construction and demolition. The project treats the site as something to explore rather than define from the start. Each intervention tests a way of understanding it, showing what the site can support, what it resists, and what remains open. The question is not simply what to build, but how to work with what is already there without fixing it too quickly.
